Technology that other vendors couldn’t supply was developed by EAM. Here’s what we did to provide the solution…

Magnets have been employed for years in many different types of tools – most often to hold screws, nuts and bolts to the heads of screwdrivers, drills etc., allowing for more convenient hands-free operation.

The customer in this case was looking for a supplier for a traditional alnico magnet that they would use to build a magnetic head for their commercial nut driver. The magnet holds the nut to the tip of the driver, allowing the operator to work more quickly and safely.

The Problem: The alnico magnet could not be pushed into the driver housing without breaking. In order for the magnet to hold in place, it had to first be fitted into an aluminum bushing, and then pushed into the driver housing. The process was overly time-consuming, and required additional parts that were unnecessary.

The Solution: Eliminate a step – and a bushing – by using EAM Injection Molded Neodymium! EAM was able to design several different injection molded magnets that were specifically made to push-fit directly into the driver housing. No glue or aluminum bushing was required, greatly reducing the assembly time and associated costs.
